Legendary music director MS Viswanathan passes away July 15, 2015



The legendary music director passed away at a private hospital in Chennai after suffering from geriatric problem. Legendary music director M S Viswanathan, who had scored music for over 1000 films, passed away at his residence early this morning following illness. 88-year-old Viswanathan was being treated at a private hospital in Chennai for geriatric problem. The music director is survived by four sons and three daughters. 


About MS Viswanathan He was born on 24 June 1928 in Elapulli in Palghat district of Tamil Nadu. He had entered the film career as a child artist starring as the Bala Murugan in the film Kannagi. He had composed music for over 1700 films in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. Some of his best films include Sumaithaangi, Paasamalara, Aayirathil Oruvan, Server Sundaram and Enga Veetu Pillai. He has the distinction of having worked with 4 chief ministers from the film world. They are MG Ramachandran, NT Ramarao, M.Karunanidhi and J.Jayalalithaa. Awards: Kalaimamani (A jewel for art) of Tamil Nadu Government and several other prestigious music awards. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has conferred the Thirai Isai Chakravarthy (in Tamil means The Emperor of Cine Music) title.
