Georgia ink MoU on electoral cooperation July 14, 2015

India and Georgia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the field of election management and administration. The MoU was signed by Dr. Nasim Zaidi, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India and Ms. Tamar Zhvania, Chairperson, Central Election Commission of Georgia in New Delhi. The major aims of MoU are: To promote exchanges of experience and knowledge in electoral processes.  Election Commissioner of India A. K. Joti; diplomats, and senior officials of the Election Commission of India and Government of India were present at the signing ceremony. The major aims of MoU are: promotion of exchanges of knowledge and experience in electoral processes; exchange of information, materials, expertise and training of personnel; production and distribution of materials pertaining to electoral systems, voting technology, voters' education and awareness, and participation of women and minorities in electoral process.

Distribution and production of materials in the field of electoral systems, voting technology, voters’ education and awareness. To promote participation of women and minorities in electoral process. So far the Election Commission of India (ECI) has signed around 20 MoUs with different international election management bodies and organizations across the world. Some of the international signed MoUs are with the Kyrgyzstan, Egypt, Venezuela, Yemen, Mauritius, South Korea etc.
